After dealing with months and months of doctor appointments & testing I think we are finally on the right path with these two!!
Back in July they were both diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis, which is basically swelling of the esophagus and cells being present that aren't supposed to be there (eosinophil cells). This is caused by eating a food that you are allergic too. The GI dr started with both of them going off of milk products completely for a trial period. Jacob did wonderful on it and between 3 different dr's now we feel that is what he is allergic to. So no more milk for him. Tyler on the other hand has had no change at all and I just have felt all along that it wasn't milk causing his problem. After heading to an allergist last week and him running more tests as well as having a consult between the allergist and his GI doctor they have felt that the celiac test that was done in July which came back as inconclusive wasn't correct. His pediatrician, GI, dermatologist and allergist doctor have all said that it is Dermatitis Herpetiformis that Tyler has, which is a rash caused by a gluten allergy. So Tyler is now on a strict gluten free diet for 6 weeks then back to the doctor to see if his rash has cleared as well as how is esophagus is doing.
I really feel that we are finally on the right path for both of these boys, I hope we can finally be done with doctor appointments and get them both feeling better. So that is the update for our house :)

OH MY GOODNESS! How did I miss this post? WOW! I'm so glad that you are getting this squared away!
Is this something for a lifetime (for both of them)? Or do one or the other grow out of it?
Thanks for the post. Sheesh, I'm going to have to remember this for the Christmas Cookies (that's my ONLY concern food wise from me!)
